Vehicle Description
HIGHLIGHTS: Station wagon with rear facing seat! Clean classic Swedish masterpiece! Largely original, unmodified, unmolested classic Saab! This beautiful feat of Swedish craftsmanship is stunning!
BODY OVERVIEW: The body on this Saab is nice, which is no surprise as it is believed to have 37,000 actual mileage. No vehicle stays this nice for this long under heavy abuse! There are some various signs of typical age and use here and there, and evidence of a previous front end repair, but as a whole it presents very nicely. There are a few areas where you can see some surface rust starting.
PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: This 95 appears to be wearing its original paint, or a very old repaint. It still shines nicely and presents very well! There are some very minor defects to be found, such as various touchup areas and some paint bubbles as seen in the photos. Nonetheless, this Saab is highly original and very presentable!
INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: The interior condition is perhaps the most pleasantly surprising aspect of this Saab, and really backs up the mileage claim. Other than having had an aftermarket cassette stereo fitted in the past, the interior appears to be almost completely original and unrestored. While it isn’t factory fresh, the interior is in truly remarkable condition for a 50-year-old vehicle! Take a look at the photos and see for yourself!
MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: For those unfamiliar with the 95, under the hood is where things really get interesting! This Saab is powered by a 1.7L Ford-sourced V4. No, that’s not a typo, it really is a V-block four-cylinder! This little Saab runs like a champ and has a very unique sound to it, courtesy of the V4. The exterior condition of the engine suggests that it was rebuilt somewhat recently, so it is no surprise that this car fires right up every time, even in cold weather (as any good Swedish car should!). With a four-speed column-shifted manual transmission, driving this Saab is a truly unique experience!
WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: This is a good, honest, unmolested classic Saab that is a truly unique experience compared to other cars of the era. From the way the windows roll down to the burble of the V4, this vehicle is quirky in all the right ways!
WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: Some buyers hear ‘unrestored’ and think ‘needs to be restored.’ While that certainly isn’t the case with this car, if you’re looking for a better-than-factory restored 95 wagon, this is probably not what you’re after.
DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? Just a new home!
WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? Someone who grew up seeing these peculiar little Swedish cars driving around would love to have this example, complete with its 1990s Brown University parking sticker. If you remember growing up driving these or riding with parents that owned them, or are simply looking for something unusual to take to a local cruise-in, this Saab could be a fine choice!
